
Nepal Telecom (NTC) has recently released a notice to aware the people about the fake lottery being conducted on various social media outlets.
Why it matters:
- According to the notice, it has been found that there have been multiple reports of messages from national and International numbers saying that the receivers have won a lottery on messaging applications such as Viber, IMO, and WhatsApp. In order to receive their prizes, the users are urged to deposit a certain amount as remittance.
- NT has requested the users to be aware of this type of fake lottery and to avoid being scammed.
- The scam messages usually mention that the user has won money in lucky draw of Kaun Banega Crorepati (See below).

Some users have reported such messages on Whatsapp and Viber that date back to two weeks ago.
