Daraz one of the largest online shopping websites in Nepal is organizing a Black Friday sale (Daraz Black Friday) from 24th of November to 28th of November. This will be the 2nd Black Friday by Daraz; last year it was held from 25th November while Daraz was still Kaymu.
Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States (the fourth Thursday of November). On this day, most major retailers open very early (and more recently during overnight hours) and offer promotional sales. The popularity of Black Friday has grown in many countries and Nepal is also catching up with the trend.
As to the question behind the name, “Black Friday”, Wikipedia writes, “Many retailers report some of their highest profits on Black Friday. The black portion of the name, “Black Friday” relates to businesses recording their losses in red ink and gains in black. This tradition lives on in modern accounting software, hence the name.”
Daraz has been building up the hype about its Black Friday sale & they even posted this picture from the movie 300.
The previous black Friday sale was not much interesting, so I’m quite skeptical. But I hope that there will be exciting deals on electronic gadgets. Though only time will tell what Daraz Back Friday really has to offer.
Daraz has also created a Facebook event page to promote its Black Friday sale online. So if you’re excited about the sale, subscribe to the Daraz’s Facebook event by following this link. Also, you can win a gift voucher worth Rs. 2000 by simply answering a question. So do not forget to check their Facebook event page.
The sale is being sponsored by Nepal Investment Bank, Summit Air, FlyDubai, UMIDIGI, and Worldlink.
We hope the event to be a grand success.
