The new iPad Air was announced and launched in early March, and fast forward just a month, and it has finally arrived in Nepal. Alongside it, GenXT, the official Apple distributor in Nepal, has also brought in the new MacBook Neo and MacBook Air M5.

Now, Apple devices rarely bring groundbreaking upgrades with each new generation. So let’s see what the iPad Air M4 actually brings to the table this time.
What is the Price of Apple iPad Air M4 in Nepal?
With each iteration, the iPad Air has been getting noticeably more expensive. Last year, the M3 model started at Rs. 1,09,000. And now in 2026, the 11-inch iPad Air M4 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,14,000 (128GB), Rs. 1,32,500 (256GB), Rs. 1,69,500 (512GB), and Rs. 2,06,500 (1TB). Apple has introduced Wi-Fi + Cellular variants this time, starting at Rs. 1,42,000 (128GB) and reaching Rs. 1,60,500 (256GB).
Likewise, the bigger 13-inch iPad Air M4 comes in at an even higher price bracket. The Wi-Fi models are priced the following: Rs. 1,51,000 (128GB), Rs. 1,69,500 (256GB), and Rs. 2,06,500 (512GB). Meanwhile, the Wi-Fi + Cellular versions push the pricing further, starting at Rs. 1,97,500 (256GB) and going all the way up to Rs. 2,35,000 (512GB).
The tablet is available for purchase, and you can buy the device at Apple-authorized retailers like Oliz Store and Evostore.
When you look at MacBooks, the MacBook Air has traditionally been the most affordable entry point—at least until the newer lineup expansions like the MacBook Neo.
But things work a bit differently in Apple’s iPad lineup. You’ve got the iPad Mini, iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro, and the naming doesn’t exactly scale the same way as MacBooks. In this lineup, the iPad Air sits just below the Pro, acting as that sweet spot between performance and price.
And that positioning has remained fairly consistent over the years. Apple has clearly defined the Air as the device that delivers near-Pro performance without the full Pro price tag, making it the go-to option for most users who want power without going all-in.
Looking at Apple’s pattern over the years, the Air usually inherits the previous generation Pro chip. So after last year’s iPad Pro with the M4, it’s no surprise that in 2026, we’re seeing the iPad Air M4.
But beyond the chipset upgrade, the real question is—is there any meaningful upgrade here? Or is this just a spec refresh?
Well, let’s break it down in the overview of the iPad Air M4.

Apple iPad Air M4 Overview
The new iPad Air M4 looks identical to the M3 and M2 before it. Just like the MacBook, Apple is playing it very safe in the design department. That said, the premium aluminium build is still here.

Good news for Nepali buyers is that the iPad Air this time comes in both Wi-Fi only and cellular (5G) models in Nepal, a welcome change, as previous generations typically offered only the Wi-Fi variant through local authorized channels.
The Air comes in two sizes, an 11-inch and a larger 13-inch model. Aside from the screen size, the main difference is the resolution. The 11-inch runs a 2360 x 1640 display while the 13-inch steps up to 2732 x 2048.
However, both models share the same 264PPI pixel density, so there should be no real visual difference between the two. Both are also Liquid Retina displays, offering a 60Hz LCD panel with P3 wide colour coverage and True Tone.

Moving to hardware, the M4 chip is the most obvious upgrade. It is not entirely new; the iPad Pro M4 debuted back in 2024. And it has been Apple’s trend to bring the previous year’s Pro chip to the current iPad Air.
However, there’s a slight catch this time. While both the M3 and M4 iPad Air feature an 8-core CPU, the M4 version in the iPad Air is a binned chip with only 3 performance cores and 5 efficiency cores (compared to 4 performance + 4 efficiency cores on the M3). In theory, this shifts the balance slightly toward better efficiency and battery life, though it delivers modestly lower peak multi-core performance than a full M4 chip found in the iPad Pro
Apple claims the SoC is up to 30% faster than the previous M3 iPad Air and up to 2.3x faster than the iPad Air M1, with over 4x faster 3D rendering with ray tracing compared to the M1.
On the memory front, there is an impressive upgrade, shifting from 8GB to 12GB of RAM. Given the ongoing memory concerns on iPads, this is a meaningful improvement. On top of that, memory bandwidth has also jumped from 100GB/s to 120GB/s, meaning faster data processing and smoother multitasking overall.
Connectivity has also seen a significant upgrade, moving from Wi-Fi 6E to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3 to Bluetooth 6.

The camera hardware has not seen any meaningful changes. You still get the same 12MP rear shooter and a 12MP Centre Stage front camera, identical to last year. That said, Apple cameras are generally reliable, and even without an upgrade, they should handle video calls and general use just fine.

On the battery front, the 13-inch model packs a 36.59Wh cell while the smaller 11-inch comes with a 28.93Wh unit. Interestingly, Apple claims both models offer up to 10 hours of web browsing on a single charge.

With all the power the M4 chip brings, the iPad Air M4 clearly feels like a device built with professionals in mind. The build quality is top-notch, the performance is extremely capable, and everything about it screams premium Apple refinement. However, it does come at a slightly higher price, but that’s simply part of the Apple ecosystem; you’re paying for the experience as much as the hardware.
That said, if your usage is more casual, like browsing, media consumption, light productivity, or even regular gaming, then the standard iPad or even the iPad Mini will easily get the job done.
Ultimately, the iPad Air M4 makes the most sense for users who actually need that extra performance headroom, while casual users are better off saving money and going for the more affordable iPad options.
