OPPO A6x Launching in Nepal Soon: 6,500mAh Battery But NO Fast Charging?

 HIGHLIGHTS

  • The OPPO A6x price in Nepal could start from Rs. 20,999 (4/64GB).

OPPO’s A6 series has been in the market since November 2025, and now OPPO is adding a new member to the lineup with the OPPO A6x.

Back in 2025, the A6x’s predecessor, the OPPO A5x, fared pretty well against the competition, so my hopes are pretty high for the A6x.

When I said the OPPO A5x fared well against the competition last year, there was one main reason — it was the only phone in its price range to offer a massive 45W charging paired with a 6,000mAh battery, at least in Nepal. The endurance was simply off the charts, and for just Rs. 15,000, that was very impressive.

The same, however, could not be said for the A5 Pro and A5. Both failed to offer much and ended up being poor value for money compared to what rivals were offering at the time.

Now, fast forward to this year, and the A6 Pro and A6 have already been on the market for a while. And unfortunately, they seem to follow a similar trend to their predecessors, not particularly exciting, and not particularly great value either.

So the big question is, can the A6x follow in the A5x’s footsteps and offer something that no other phone does at its price? Or will it be yet another overpriced budget phone from OPPO? Let’s find out.

OPPO A6x Overview

The OPPO A6x looks quite different from its predecessor, the A5x. In fact, it even looks different from its siblings, the A6 and A6 Pro. The main difference is the pill-shaped camera module, while the predecessor and siblings all came with a square one.

That said, the camera cutout and dual LED flash remain in the same position as the OPPO A6. In fact, the entire dimensions of the A6x match the A6 exactly. And with an identical plastic frame and back, it is pretty hard to tell the two apart.

However, comparing it to the previous generation A5x, the differences are quite wild. For starters, the IP rating has been downgraded from IP65 on the A5x to IP64, a step in the wrong direction.

On the display front, the screen is slightly bigger this time at 6.75 inches. It is still an IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution, just like before. As a result, the pixel density has dropped slightly from 264ppi to 256ppi. Not a huge difference, but pixelation issues may persist.

Additionally, OPPO has removed the Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection that came with the A5x. There is now no official glass protection on the A6x at all.

Continuing with the downgrades, the camera takes a hit as well. The A6x comes with a 13MP main camera, down from 32MP on the A5x. It is paired with a monochrome sensor, and on the front, there is a 5MP selfie shooter.

Now, things might seem a bit grim with all these downgrades. But on the performance front, OPPO has improved things with the Snapdragon 685 (6nm). Compared to last year’s 11nm Snapdragon 6s Gen 1, that seems like a meaningful upgrade. However, the SD685 is not the best 4G SoC, and there are better chips out there.

The battery is another area where OPPO stepped up, with a larger 6,500mAh unit, quite impressive for this segment. The charging speed on the A6x has not been officially mentioned. So, it looks like we are getting either 10W or 15W. But I would love to be proven wrong, considering the previous iteration had a whopping 45W fast charging.

Lastly, the phone ships with Android 15 with ColorOS 15 on top.

The OPPO A6x is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, the Snapdragon 685 and the bigger 6,500mAh battery are welcome upgrades. But on the other hand, the camera downgrade from 32MP to 13MP, the removal of 45W charging, and the dropped Gorilla Glass protection are hard to overlook — especially when the A5x set such a strong benchmark at this price.

What worries me the most is that the A5x was special because it offered something no other phone did at that price. The A6x does not really have that one standout thing going for it.

Honestly, if the A6x had kept the 45W charging from the A5x, it would have been a much easier recommendation. But as it stands, it feels like OPPO took one step forward and two steps back. Unless the phone launches at a very aggressive price, there are simply better options out there for the money.
