Galaxy Z TriFold Launching Soon in Nepal: Samsung’s First Triple Foldable Smartphone

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold price in Nepal is expected to start at Rs. 3,74,999 for the 16/512GB variant.
  • This is Samsung’s thinnest foldable with a razor-thin unfolded thickness of 3.9mm
  • It packs a Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4) chip and a 5,600mAh battery.

The Z Fold series used to sit at the very top as Samsung’s most premium and most expensive smartphone lineup. But that title has now been overtaken by the all-new Galaxy Z TriFold.

Recently launched in South Korea, the Galaxy Z TriFold is already making headlines as Samsung’s first-ever triple-folding smartphone, marking a bold new chapter in the foldable category.

Although the Z TriFold isn’t the world’s first triple-folding phone, it is Samsung’s first take on this form factor. And since it’s the debut model in a brand-new series, there isn’t much to compare it with, other than Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Fold 7, the latest dual-folding flagship.

At a glance, a lot of the specs feel like a carbon copy. The biggest difference is the obvious one: an extra hinge and an extra screen segment. Beyond that, things like performance, cameras, and charging remain largely familiar.

But let’s dig deeper to see what the Galaxy Z TriFold is really made of.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Overview

First, let’s get the obvious out of the way. As the name suggests, the Galaxy Trifold folds three times in a U-shaped layout. And honestly, it feels like a missed opportunity that Samsung didn’t go for the Z-style fold like Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, given that the phone is named Z TriFold.

Since it uses a U-fold, the inner screen stays well-protected from scratches, useful because the inner panel only has a basic protective film that’s… not exactly confidence-inspiring. The cover display, however, comes with tough Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection.

The back uses a ceramic-glass fibre–reinforced polymer, paired with an aluminium frame and a titanium hinge, basically the same materials Samsung used on the Z–Fold7.

For the display, there’s a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 6.5-inch FHD+ cover display, which is practically a copy-paste from the Fold 7. And yes, the crease is very noticeable as well.

The camera setup is also a carbon copy of the Z Fold 7: a 200MP main shooter, 10MP telephoto with 3× optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide. On the cover display, there’s a 10MP selfie camera. Because of this setup, the camera bump is chunkier than the phone’s folded thickness, which looks a bit wild in person.

Performance-wise, nothing really stands out. For a futuristic device like this, I genuinely expected Samsung to go all in with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the same one in the OnePlus 15.

But Samsung stuck with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 4 for Galaxy, paired with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. There’s a 1TB variant too, but let’s be real—it’s highly unlikely to enter the Nepali market.

Now, battery-wise, Samsung finally did something interesting. They stepped out of their usual 5,000mAh comfort zone and packed a 5,600mAh battery inside a frame that’s just 3.9mm thin when unfolded. The battery is almost certainly split across three slabs inside the foldable chassis.

Charging remains the same old setup: 45W wired and 15W wireless. But hey, at least Samsung finally includes a charger in the box.

On the software front, you get the latest Galaxy AI features like Smart Summary, Writing Assist, and Text Conversion. The phone boots Android 16 with One UI 8 layered on top. And for OS upgrades, the TriFold gets 7 generations of OS upgrades, just like most Samsung flagships.

The Z TriFold definitely has the flair factor going for it. Until now, the only triple-folding phone with true flagship features was the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, and while it had some solid specs, it didn’t quite break into the mainstream.

But that’s about to change. With Samsung, the brand most users trust, stepping into the triple-fold market, things are getting a lot more interesting. And for power users who want both a tablet and a smartphone in one device, the Galaxy Z TriFold finally gives them a compelling new option.
