With so many value-for-money tablets already on the market, Honor has entered the scene with their new budget tablet, the Honor Pad X7.

The budget tablet segment is quite scattered, but if Honor plays its cards right, the Pad X7 has the potential to come out on top.

When you look at Honor’s X series smartphones, like the X7d and X9c, they were all built for durability and endurance. From the looks of it, the same seems true for the tablet series as well, at least when it comes to endurance.

However, the X series smartphones have always been slightly pricey compared to their raw performance. Let’s see if the Honor Pad X7 follows the same path.

Honor Pad X7 Overview

The Honor Pad X7 is a compact tablet with an 8.7-inch screen, small enough that you could even hold it in one hand. However, it’s fairly thick for its size, coming in just 1mm shy of 8mm. At first, I thought it felt a bit bulky, but considering the battery size, it’s understandable.

Honestly, the dimensions remind me of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11, as both tablets share a similar size, and the A11 is also expected to launch in Nepal soon.

On the back, there’s an “Integrated Metal Back Panel,” which, according to Honor, has passed 42 reliability tests.

The display is a TFT LCD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. For a budget tablet, I’m not complaining. What I am concerned about is the large screen paired with just HD+ resolution, which could make the display look slightly pixelated. The panel peaks at 625 nits, which is fine for indoor use, but you might find yourself squinting under bright sunlight.

The processor isn’t particularly impressive, using a four-year-old 4G chip, Snapdragon 680. Still, if the actual pricing comes close to the estimated range, the Pad X7 could easily become one of the best budget tablets in Nepal in terms of performance.

The camera setup is similar to the Galaxy Tab A11, featuring an 8MP rear and a 5MP front shooter. While it’s far from ideal for photography, it should be more than adequate for casual video calls. Battery life is another strong point, with a 7,020mAh cell. Unfortunately, charging is limited to 10W, meaning a full charge could take 3–4 hours.

The Honor Pad X7 doesn’t impress much on paper, featuring a 90Hz TFT display and a Snapdragon 680. The 7,020mAh battery is respectable, but the charging speed isn’t very impressive.

The big “however” is that if the expected pricing turns out to be accurate, the Pad X7 could perform very well in the market, with no other tablet coming close, at least in terms of price. Since the actual price isn’t yet known, we’ll have to wait and see for now.
