Ncell, Nepal’s leading telecom company, has announced that it is ready for technology neutrality deployment on 900 and 1800 MHz band in order to double its mobile internet service.
With this new implementation, 17 million Nepali, i.e. about 60% of the population, will get access to the faster mobile internet. The extended covered areas include 1000 rural and remote villages like Deuralikot of Bajhang, Shreenagar of Mugu, Jhong in Mustang, Malta of Lalitpur and Tingla of Solukhumbu.
Simon Perkins, managing director of Ncell says, “We are excited about the great impact that technology neutrality is set to bring to the people and the country, especially in term of access to internet, creation of new opportunities and GDP growth.”
He added, “We have committed to resources, knowledge transfer and investment with up to Rs 30 billion in infrastructure and services accordingly to achieve this goal. Together, we shall collectively realize the national goal of building ‘Digital Nepal’.”
