Tesla Nepal Pvt. Ltd. has partnered with Tesla Inc. to secure official distribution and dealership rights, making Tesla EVs officially available in the Nepali market.
According to CEO Surendra Koirala, an MoU has been signed with Tesla HQ in Texas, USA after four years of negotiations for distribution rights. The signed agreement will ensure Experience Centers, Service Centers, and Charging Networks maintain Tesla’s Standard Operating Procedure.
The distributors have begun the process of opening LC to import 50 units of popular Telsa Models in its initial phase. These are stated to arrive in Nepal by the end of February.
Additionally, Tesla Nepal has signed functional agreements with Tesla Singapore and Hong Kong to set up and monitor customer service, after-sales service, charging network, and experience centers.
Tesla Nepal has already started building its first showroom in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. The process of setting up its second showroom in Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur is also underway.
The service center will be in operation in the 3 Ropani land area in Ekantakuna, which will also feature five Tesla Superchargers.
Tesla Nepal has stated its plan to expand its network to Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Biratnagar, and Jhapa within the next 10 years.
Despite the lack of authorized distributors, Tesla EVs have been available in Nepal since 2020.
Arete International imported Tesla as an individual organization. Because of this, the Teslas imported by Arete International were imported at a retail price which was further subjected to a 30% penalty.
Because of this, even the entry-level Tesla Model 3 retailed for a premium.
Since Tesla Nepal has been granted authorized distribution, the future imported Teslas will be subjected to factory-manufactured prices.
This will ensure the new prices of Tesla Models are 40% less expensive while providing comprehensive after-sales services.
