Samsung Galaxy A36 Launching Soon in Nepal: Say Hi to 45W Fast Charging!

Samsung recently launched the Galaxy A36, the successor to the A35, in its A30-series lineup, and will soon be available in Nepal.

What is the Price of Samsung Galaxy A36 in Nepal?

The Samsung Galaxy A36 price in Nepal could be Rs. 48,999 (8/128GB), Rs. 51,999 (8/256GB) and Rs. 54,999(12/256GB).

Considering the Galaxy A56 received a price hike of Rs. 3,000 this time around, we are assuming the Galaxy A36 will also see some increase in the price tag.

And similar to its higher sibling, it might not be bundled with a charger this time around.

Samsung’s new Galaxy A36, just like the A56 has some big shoes to fill, given the popularity from last year. It is thin, light, has a large display and comes with many AI features, which is always a good thing.

Let’s dive into what the Galaxy A36 has to offer in more detail.

Samsung Galaxy A36 Overview

Design

The biggest design change on the Galaxy A36 compared to last year’s A35 is the camera module. The A36 features a pill-shaped linear camera module, replacing Samsung’s signature indepedent camera rings.

Beyond the camera, the phone looks nearly identical. However, once you hold both devices, the difference is noticeable—the A36 is nearly a millimeter thinner and 14g lighter than the A35, an impressive improvement without altering the battery capacity.

The phone has a plastic frame, which gives it a slightly cheaper feel. But, the glass back adds a premium touch. It also features the raised power and volume buttons on the right, which Samsung calls Key Island.

Like its predecessor, the A36 is IP67-certified for water and dust resistance. It comes in four color options: Ice Blue, Lilac, Navy, and Lemon.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy A36 features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with a punch-hole cutout for the camera. It has a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother animation and navigation.

Spec-wise, the display looks great, but the bezels are not uniform, and neither are they thin. Looking at the ultra-thin bezels of the S25 Ultra, it would have been amazing to see something like that trickle down to the budget segment as well.

Moving on to brightness, the display has a maximum brightness of 1200nits in HBM under direct sunlight and peaks at 1900nits. The display is HDR10+ certified and comes with Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front and back.

For biometrics, an optical fingerprint sensor is embedded under the display.

Hardware

The A36 is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset, which is surprising given Samsung’s past trends. Previously, Samsung would use the A50-series processor from the last generation in the current A30-series. This led many, including me, to expect the A36 to feature the Exynos 1480 from the A55, but that’s not what happened.

The processor features 4x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 and 4x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 and has an Adreno 710 GPU that handles all the graphics.

Checking the AnTuTu and Geekbench scores, the single and multi-core performance comes close to Exynos 1380— Yes, the one used in A35. Meaning that the performance jump from the A35 to the A36 isn’t as significant as expected.

Although the new chipset brings better efficiency and AI capabilities, raw processing power remains similar to last year’s model. Maybe that is why, Samsung opted for Qualcomm silicone this time instead of something out of their own foundry, i.e. to handle “Awesome Intelligence” better.

The Galaxy A36 offers 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage with UFS 2.2. While UFS 3.1, like in the A56, would have been a nice addition, it’s understandable given the lower price. Unfortunately, there is no support for microSD cards this year.

Cameras

The A36 has a triple camera setup on the rear with a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 5MP macro sensor. The main sensor is optically stabilized and can shoot videos up to 4K resolution at 30fps.

On the front is a 12MP selfie camera that can record videos up to 4K at 30fps as well. The resolution number on the front facing snapper seems a fall-off from the 13MP we got on the last-gen, however, the sensor over is apparently the same as one we get on the S24 series phones.

Hence, we can expect better image quality overall.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy A36 gets the same 5000mAh battery as its predecessor. However, like the A56, this year the A36 is also getting Superfast Charging 2.0, like the one found in Samsung flagship devices. According to Samsung, this allows you to charge up to 65% in just 30 minutes and 100% in 68 minutes.

Unfortunately, this also means the phone might not come bundled with a free charging adapter, possibly because of the 45W charging support. So, you will have to invest an extra Rs. 5,500 for the best charging experience.

OS and AI

The device comes with Android 15 out of the box with One UI 7 skin on top. Furthermore, the Samsung Galaxy A36 will receive up to six iterations of Android OS and security updates, a notable improvement compared to the four years we got on the A35.

The Samsung Galaxy A36, just like last year, comes with Samsung Knox Vault, a hardware-based tamper-resistant environment that holds sensitive data and physically isolates PINs, passwords, biometrics, and security-critical keys away from the rest and stores them in secure memory.

Like Samsung’s flagship devices, the A36 comes with several AI features, including Circle to Search, Object Eraser (Auto Suggestion), Filters (Adjust Film Styles), Edit Suggestion, AI Select, and Read Aloud.

Samsung markets these AI capabilities in the A-series as “Awesome Intelligence,” though they likely won’t match the more advanced “Galaxy AI” found in flagship models.

The Galaxy A36 has not received a launch date as of yet. However, we can tell its just around the corner. We will also have to wait and see what offers Samsung is planning to bundle for us.

The Samsung Galaxy A36 offers minor upgrades over the A35, including a larger display and a thinner, lighter design. Notably, Samsung has added 45W fast charging to the A30-series for the first time. That said, it remains to be seen how it stacks up against competitors like the Nothing Phone (3a) and Redmi Note 14 Pro+ in the same price range.
