It’s February — the month of love — and it’s also the second anniversary month of one of Nepal’s most prominent tech brands, MWC. To celebrate their anniversary, they are about to launch a series of devices, one of which is the Aether One smartwatch.

If you’re unaware, MWC has introduced a variety of wired and wireless earbuds, smartwatches, portable speakers, and charging equipment to Nepal. Their previously launched Callisto Watch Pro 2 was a major hit, and now let’s see whether the Aether One can follow a similar trend.

If you look at MWC’s previous watches, all of them featured a clean and minimalistic design, catering to buyers who preferred something sleek and subtle. However, not everyone may be drawn to that design choice.

Some users might prefer something sportier; after all, that’s what a smartwatch does best: track your activity.

And that’s where the Aether One comes in. Its specs seem quite similar to the Callisto Watch Pro 2. But is there anything new? Well, let’s find out.

MWC Aether One Overview

The MWC Aether looks entirely different compared to other MWC smartwatch offerings like the Callisto Watch Pro and Pro 2. The previous launches featured a sleek, full-metal body, while the Aether One comes with a part-metal, part-plastic build. Other than that, the Aether One still has a circular design, just like previous MWC offerings.

It has a total of four buttons, one of which rotates for navigation and selection, while the remaining ones are standard clickable buttons.

The four buttons, combined with orange highlights, give it a sporty look. The black-and-orange silicone strap included in the box further enhances its sports smartwatch appeal. If you prefer a cleaner setup, MWC also offers a nylon strap that gives it a more elegant look.

Despite the metal-and-plastic build, the watch is waterproof up to 5ATM, meaning it should handle submersion up to 50 meters. However, the watch is missing an official IP rating.

Another thing that’s also missing is any form of display protection, but they have mentioned a “Shield High Hardness”.  Now, I have not heard of this protection rating, but I’m sure it handles light scratches and drops.

Moving to the front, you get a 1.43-inch AMOLED display. The spec sheet labels it as HD, but it’s not technically HD, as the resolution maxes out at 466 x 466 pixels.

That said, the resolution and screen size combination result in a pixel density of 460ppi. To put that into perspective, it’s still higher than the pixel density on the base Galaxy S25. So, icons and visuals should appear quite crisp. Plus, the watch runs at a 60Hz refresh rate, which should make transitions smooth.

While MWC has not revealed the exact chipset, they have mentioned that it’s Next Gen AI with Adaptive Preprocessing. And for memory, the watch comes with 2GB of NAND flash memory, which supports MP4 files with a size limit of 45MB.

MWC has also improved significantly in the battery department. The Aether One features a 550mAh battery unit. For comparison, both Callisto watches from MWC offer battery units under 400mAh. This larger battery also means longer backup.

The Aether One offers a battery life of up to 7 to 10 days on a single charge, though this may vary depending on usage. This is still very impressive compared to flagship smartwatches that barely last a day. For charging, the watch comes with a pogo-pin charger included in the box.

Most of these specs were already available on the Callisto Watch Pro and Pro 2. What’s actually new in the MWC Aether One is the addition of a 3-axis sensor that allows motion tracking and an eCompass. The watch also includes a barometric pressure sensor.

Along with these, you get the usual heart rate monitor, blood oxygen monitor, stress monitoring, sleep tracking, female physiological cycle tracking, sedentary reminders, ChatGPT integration, and over 100 sports modes.

MWC’s Aether One seems to sit slightly above the budget segment, but the specs are quite decent. For instance, it features an AMOLED display with a smooth 60Hz refresh rate. For a smartwatch, I think these two specs alone are essential.

Besides that, MWC has also nailed the design, and this one is more suited toward fitness enthusiasts. However, if you’re looking for a sleeker and more minimalistic design, the Callisto Watch Pro 2 might be a better fit.
