Design and Build

JBL Flip 6 looks like just another JBL speaker. A cylinder with a passive bass radiator at each end flanks the driver and tweeter in the middle.

There’s a JBL logo on the front and control buttons on the back. The carrying loop is also tied near the backlit Bluetooth and power buttons alongside the USB-C charging port.

The Flip 6 gets an upgraded IP67 rating, which means it is not water and dust-resistant. The speaker weighs 544g which is pretty good for a speaker of its size.

It is available in two colors: Black and Blue.

Audio

Flip 6 has two passive bass radiators, a tweeter, and a driver. It produces a total output of 20W with JBL’s signature sound.

JBL mentions that the racetrack-shaped woofer delivers exceptional low frequencies and midrange, while the tweeter produces crisp and clear high frequencies. The dual passive radiators are also optimized for deep bass, fine tuned using Harman’s advanced algorithm.

Connectivity

The speaker uses Bluetooth 5.1 which gives it a theoretical range of 40 meters. Like the JBL Flip 5, it doesn’t have an aux port. For codecs, it only supports the SBC Bluetooth codec.

The Flip 6 also supports JBL’s PartyBoost feature that allows you to pair two JBL PartyBoost-compatible speakers together for stereo sound. Likewise, you can connect up to 2 smartphones or tablets to the speaker.

Battery

The Flip 6 has a 17.28Wh battery that can provide up to 12 hours of playtime on a single charge.

For charging, it has a USB Type-C port and takes about 2.5 hours for a full charge.

Flip 6 is the upgrade of the Flip 5 with some slight changes. Instead of an IPX7 rating, it now has a full IP67 rating.
