Apple iPad Air with M2 Processor Now Available in Nepal

The iPad Air M2, the sixth iteration of the iPad Air, was globally launched on May 15, 2024, alongside the iPad Pro M4. It is now available for purchase in Nepal.

The Apple iPad Air M2 price in Nepal is Rs. 1,05,000 (128GB) to Rs. 1,94,000 (1TB) for the 11-inch variant. Whereas, the 13-inch model starts at Rs. 1,41,000 (128GB) and goes up to Rs. 2,29,500 (1TB).

The abovementioned prices are for the Wi-Fi-only variants and do not reflect the price of the iPad Air M2 with cellular connectivity.

Apple iPad Air M2 Overview

Design

The iPad Air M2 maintains the familiar design language of its predecessors, featuring a large screen with minimal bezels enclosed in a thin, monotone metal unibody.

Made from aluminum, the chassis has a clean look with the only thing breaking the look being the Apple logo positioned centrally. Rounded corners and edges provide comfort while handling and carrying the device.

On the back are the smart connectors and a dedicated cutout in the top left corner for the main camera.

The front-facing camera has moved to the center in landscape orientation. Adjacent to the camera are the volume buttons, while slightly above them resides the Touch ID/power button.

Display

The standout feature of the iPad Air M2 is its display, which is available in two sizes: 11 inches and 13 inches. Regardless of which one you choose, the panel you get is an IPS LCD panel that Apple markets as a Liquid Retina display.

The 11-inch display has a resolution of 1640 x 2360 pixels whereas the 13-inch panel has a resolution of 2048 x 2732 pixels. Both the panels have a pixel density of 264 ppi and a refresh rate of 60Hz.

The 11-inch panel has a maximum brightness of 500 nits whereas the 13-inch panel has a maximum brightness of 600 nits.

Hardware

Powering the iPad Air 2024 is Apple’s in-house silicon, the Apple M2 processor that was launched in 2022. The octa-core 5nm processor has 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Assisting the M2 chip is Apple’s 9-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine that handles the graphics.

In terms of storage, the iPad Air comes with 8GB of RAM that’s paired with either 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of non-expandable storage. Connectivity-wise, the device comes with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.

Other hardware features of the device include support for Apple Pencil, TouchID biometric authentication, smart connectors for accessories, and a quad-speaker setup.

Camera

Moving onto the camera, the iPad Air 2024 comes with one main camera and one selfie camera. The main camera is a 12MP unit with f/1.8 aperture and dual-pixel PDAF whereas the selfie camera is, again, a 12MP unit but with a different aperture of f/2.4.

Both the front and rear cameras can take HDR images. Video-wise, the main camera can record up to 4K at 60fps whereas the selfie camera can record up to 1080p at 60fps.

Battery and OS

Talking about the new iPad Air’s battery, it’s a lithium polymer cell that comes in two different capacities depending on screen size. In the 11-inch model, you’ll get a 28.93Wh battery whereas in the 13-inch model, you’ll get a 36.59Wh cell.

The batteries charge via a USB-C port that supports fast charging up to 20W with the provided charger.

Apple claims you get up to 10 hours of surfing the web on Wi‐Fi or watching videos.

In terms of OS, the tablet comes with iPadOS 17 out of the box.
