Design and Display

The Huawei Band 8 is a very lightweight fitness band weighing just 14g. The band features a rectangular 1.47-inch AMOLED display with very minimal bezels. The display has a resolution of 194 x 368 pixels.

Multiple straps are available for the watch. And with a quick-release design, the strap is easy to remove with a press of a button on the back. Users can wear this band even when swimming, as it is 5ATM water-resistant.

Health and Other Features

Users can download different watch faces from the Huawei watch face shop which has over 10,000 watch faces. The watch also supports the Always On Display (AOD) feature.

With Huawei TruSleep 3.0, the band matches users’ heart rate and breathing data to their sleep, and recognizes sleep stages (incl. wake, REM, light sleep, and deep sleep) with a high degree of precision, for comprehensive monitoring.

Additionally, the band has Huawei TruSeen 5.0 which allows the band to track the user’s SpO2 level and heart rate. The band automatically tracks the user’s SpO2 level and notifies immediately if it ever drops below the ideal range.

Huawei Band 8 features a new and improved AI algorithm that tracks heart rate around the clock and notifies if something is abnormal. The system shows users their resting heart rate data for the past 7 days in intuitive graphs and provides healthy heart rate zones and upper-limit reminders during workouts.

Moreover, the band offers 100 workout modes. Huawei says the band recognizes when a user is running and walking, and automatically detects any of the four major swimming strokes, as well as provides real-time heart rate monitoring during swimming.

Users can even get rewarded with a wealth of data, including running ability index (RAI), weekly training load, recovery, and VO2Max10 with TruSport system support.

Furthermore, Huawei TruRelax technology offers breathing exercises and activity reminders.

And for women, the Huawei Band 8 can help track menstrual cycles and anticipate the next period in advance.

Connectivity and Battery

With Bluetooth 5.0 support, the Band 8 is compatible with both iOS and Android smartphones.

Huawei claims the band charges in just 45 minutes. Compared with Huawei Band 7, the charging speed is faster by 30 percent. It can last for two whole days on a quick five-minute charge.

Once fully charged, the band can be used for up to 14 days, or 9 days in typical usage scenarios, says Huawei. For charging, the band comes with a proprietary magnetic charger.
