Honor V30 and V30 Pro with 5G Ready Kirin 990 and 60MP Quad Camera Goes Official

Honor, the subsidiary part of Huawei has just announced its first 5G flagship variant smartphones in China. The newly launched pairs are the successors of the pre-released Honor View series, thus they are dubbed under the names Honor V30 and V30 Pro. So, days before the launch, honor managed to confirm most of the specifications of the device if not all. And well the confirmations do have a lot to say about the devices.

Ok, so without further ado, let’s see what the Honor V30 and V30 Pro are made of.

Honor V30 and V30 Pro: Specifications at a Glance

The design aspect of both devices is quite appealing. The rear finish consists of a rectangular glass bump to the left top corner which features the triple camera setup. The front finish is quite clean as well with just the pill-shaped dual camera module up at the top.

Even at the flagship standard, I can’t seem to understand why Honor is sticking with the IPS LCD screen. Yes, the phones have a 6.75” and do come with an IPS LCD panel with FHD+ resolution which is really disheartening.

Keeping that aside, and focusing on the most important aspect is that the phones are 5G integrated. This means that both the phones will come with the company’s latest Kirin 990 processor. This processor when paired with 8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage is going to be unstoppable.

One major differentiating factor between the device is that while the V30 Pro uses Huawei’s Kirin 990 5G processor with integrated next-gen connectivity, the regular View 30 is satisfied with a standard Kirin 990 and separate Barong 5000 5G modem.

Besides the processor, the other differentiating factor is the ultrawide camera setup. The V30 Pro comes with a higher resolution 12MP ultrawide sensor whereas the V30 comes with a regular 8MP ultrawide sensor.

Besides the ultrawide sensor, both the phones share a 40MP Sony IMX600 sensor paired with 8MP telephoto and dual selfie lenses. Surprisingly, the V30 comprises of a slightly larger 4200 mAh battery. While the V30 Pro has a smaller 4100 mAh battery but both come equipped with a 27W super wireless charge support. Both the variant also have ultrafast 40W Honor Supercharge as well.

Thoughts, Pricing, and Availability

Honor says these phones are flagship quality and well after looking at the specifications, I agree. The specifications of the devices are top-notch and are worth every penny that you spend on it. The IPS LCD display is quite disappointing but it is something that I can live with.

Currently, the V30 Pro costs 3,899 yuan (~$550) for the 8/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB version is 4,199 yuan (~$600). The non-Pro V30 sells for 3,299 yuan (~$370) for 6GB/128GB and 3,699 yuan (~$525) for 8GB/128GB. There’s no telling whether the device will be made available outside of China or not. But hey, let’s hope for the best!
