The Himalayan Linguistic Olympiad Nepal (HLON) is set to organize the first-ever linguistic competition targeting School-Level students in Nepal. The event, which was initially scheduled for 22nd April is now slated for May 5, 2017, at BAC Art Café, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
The main aim of the event is to create awareness about the International Linguistics Olympiad and the preparations made by the different countries in the national and international levels. HLON also aims to establish a strong base of a language and linguistic community with a sound knowledge of logical and analytical skills. It hopes to create a pool of language and linguist enthusiasts in Nepal so that there could be a sound participation of teams in the International Linguistics Olympiad (IOL) representing Nepal.
HLON strives towards sending a team from Nepal to IOL 2017 that will be organized in Dublin, Ireland on July 31, 2017 – August 4, 2017.
