Gogoro Jego has launched in Nepal.

Gogoro, a Taiwan-based company and arguably the pioneer of battery-swapping technology on a commercial scale, has made its entry into Nepal. Currently, it operates in countries like China, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Philippines.

Nebula Energy will be the official distributor of Gogoro Scooters in Nepal.

It has opened its first outlet at Narayanchaur, Naxal, Kathmandu following the announcement made at the Nada Auto Show 2024. 

In April 2024, Gogoro launched a pilot program operating on a Business-to-Business (B2B) model, partnering with delivery services like Foodmandu and Jum Jum. The program proved to be highly successful and demonstrated the feasibility of electric scooters in Nepal.

By addressing the current charging challenges faced by electric scooters, Gogoro’s battery swapping technology, which allows riders to swap a low battery for a fully charged one in just a few minutes, has showcased its efficiency.

This success has led Gogoro to see strong potential for its smart scooters in the Nepalese market, positioning it as a game-changer in urban mobility.

Gogoro plans to introduce two new models to the Nepali market, one of them being the Gogoro Jego.

Design

The Gogoro Jego boasts an eye-catching design, available in a variety of vibrant color options.

At the front, it features a clean and sleek appearance, with round LED DRLs and a headlight that enhance its overall appeal. While the front design is minimalistic, it still manages to stand out.

From the side, the large leg rest compartment is immediately noticeable, offering enough space to accommodate a 28-inch luggage.

Performance

Gogoro Jego is powered by a  2.4 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). It generates a max power of 3.4 PS and a max torque of 100 Nm.

Gogoro smart scooters are designed with innovative swappable battery technology, allowing riders to easily replace their low battery with a fully charged one in a matter of minutes.

To support this technology, Gogoro is rapidly building a network of battery swapping stations across the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the company, it plans to establish 45 swapping stations in Kathmandu, ensuring easy access for riders throughout the city.

Moreover, Jego comes with single and double battery options. It also has two power modes: Normal and Low Energy.

Additional Details

Dual Telescopic Fork at front and Dual Shock Absorbers on the rear handle the suspension duties.

The dimensions are 1870 mm in length, 695 mm in width, and 1280 mm in height. Moreover, the wheelbase is 1345 mm.

The official Gogoro Jego price in Nepal starts at Rs. 2,29,900.

Nebula has opened its first showroom at Naxal, Kathmandu. It will launch two models: the Gogoro Jego and Gogoro Pulse Ultra.

Buyers will have the opportunity to test ride Gogoro’s smart scooters and pre-book them at a special discounted rate. Deliveries are expected to begin in October 2024.

In addition, Nebula is moving forward with an ambitious plan to establish 45 battery swapping stations across the Kathmandu valley, strategically placing them every 2-3 km for maximum convenience.

To access those swapping stations, users are required to buy subscription plan which starts at NRs 799 for 30 days, with various options designed to meet different needs, whether for students, professionals, or daily commuters.

Pricing is based on the energy used, calculated by the Ampere-hour (Ah) rate, ensuring that each plan is tailored to the user’s specific travel and energy requirements.

Interested individuals can reach out to Nebula’s official Gogoro scooter showroom recently opened at Naxal, Kathmandu.

Talking about competition, one of the competitors for the Gogoro Jego will be the Segway E125.

From a performance standpoint, both the Gogoro Jego and Segway E125 deliver similar power outputs. However, while the E125 takes up to six hours to charge, the Jego offers swappable battery technology, eliminating the need for long charging times.

This feature alone could be a key deciding factor for consumers when choosing between the Jego and the E125 or other electric scooters.

That said, the E125 comes packed with more advanced features than the Jego, including Cruise Control, a Smart Battery Management System, Remote Key Control, and ABS, making it a compelling choice for those prioritizing features.

Segway E125 price in Nepal is Rs. 3.91 Lakhs, but Gogoro Jego price in Nepal starts at Rs. 2.30 Lakhs which makes Jego even more appealing.
