DJI Mini 3 Pro Overview

Design

Like its predecessors — Mavic Mini, Mini 2, and Mini SE — the DJI Mini 3 Pro also has a foldable design. When folded, it only measures 145 × 90 × 62 mm, making this a very compact device.

But the DJI Mini 3 Pro has a new look. According to DJI, its arms and propellers have been adjusted for more aerodynamic flight that increases flight time. The weight of the drone, however, is unchanged at 249g.

This new design also allowed the drone to carry sensors with a larger field of view, which improves safety during flight and obstacle avoidance. There is also a new camera gimbal that can now rotate 90° to take photos and videos in portrait orientation.

With the DJI Mini 3 Pro, the company also introduced a new remote controller called the DJI RC. The remote controller has a 5.5-inch built-in touchscreen display and comes with the DJI Fly app integrated.

With this, users no longer need to mount their smartphones to the controller but need to pay extra for the remote. Users can also use the DJI RC-N1 remote controller.

Camera

It features a new larger 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with dual native ISO and bigger 2.4μm pixels. The sensor has an aperture of f/1.7 and is capable of shooting up to 48MP images and 4K/60fps video.

The drone can also shoot HDR videos up to 30fps. Users can shoot in DJI’s D-Cinelike colour profile, which will give more flexibility while colour grading than a normal colour profile.

As mentioned above, the sensor can also rotate 90 degrees to capture vertical photos and videos. This can be helpful for shooting TikTok or YouTube Shorts videos.

Flight

It features three visual sensors: forward, backward, and downward, which DJI calls Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing. This is the first drone in the Mini series to come with this obstacle sensing.

The forward and downward sensors have wider FOV. The DJI Mini 3 Pro is also the first Mini drone from DJI to feature APAS (Advanced Pilot Assistance System) and FocusTrack Suite, thanks to the three sensors.

The FocusTrack suite allows the drone to automatically centre-frame the selected subject during flight. The APAS 4.0 for flight safety detects and finds a safer path around obstacles automatically while in flight.

The camera drone features the O3 transmission system, which delivers a 1080p live view from a distance as far as 12km.

Battery

The DJI Mini 3 Pro comes with a 2453mAh battery, which can last up to 34 minutes on a single charge, according to DJI.

Users also have an option to buy an “Intelligent Flight Battery Plus”. It’s a 3850mAh extended flight battery that DJI says can last up to 47 minutes. Note that using this battery will increase the takeoff weight of the drone.
