Daraz, Nepal’s no.1 Online Marketplace organized the first seller summit in Nepal at an event held at Hotel Yak and Yeti on 17th September 2018. The summit offered all sellers registered with Daraz an opportunity to learn and discover smarter ways to be successful with Daraz through initiating them into the new upgraded systems. There was a presence of over 650 Daraz sellers at the event.
Mr. Bjarke Mikkelsen, CEO of Daraz Group addressed the sellers by announcing the new strategy of empowering marketplace sellers to create their own success by providing them access to the new and highly advanced Daraz systems. The new systems have been jointly developed with Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant who acquired Daraz in May 2018.
Introducing the upgraded Seller back-end system, Mikkelsen referred to the 3 step-approach used by Daraz to develop seller engagement and serve the customers better. The initial step is a revamped Strategy where Daraz will give the tools which will enable the sellers to sell their own products, create their own campaigns, and directly interact with their customers among many other things. The Tools which are needed for this are provided entirely by Daraz. The control and quality of service will be maintained by the company through a dynamic performance management system. The final and most important step is building the Business Process and ensuring that it is seamless and foolproof. This new system will go live on the 29th of September 2018 and promises to be a focal point in the e-commerce industry as it will change the whole landscape of online shopping.
“Sellers are the heart of Daraz’s e-commerce ecosystem. Making it easy for small-and-medium-sized businesses to do business anywhere is our primary mission.” said Mikkelsen.
“We believe that the best person to sell a product or a service is the seller himself – not Daraz. That’s why we want to give the sellers all the tools to do this independently. Our job is to build the tools and the control systems to ensure that the customer is always 100% protected in every single transaction.” he added.
The company also announced the new Daraz app launching on 29th September 2018 will have new features and significantly enhanced interface for Customers.
Keynote Speaker of the event, Mr. Anil Keshary Shah, CEO of Nabil Bank encouraged the sellers on using the new systems and emphasized how technology and innovation are important in maximizing growth in today’s world. He also assured that Daraz sellers will get Nabil Bank’s support by announcing SME Loan facilities for Daraz Sellers.
He emphasized that online business is the future and the Orthodox tradition will start to diminish soon as the online business has shown its impact in other countries and Daraz being the pioneer in Nepal should be acknowledged from the sellers as online business is the future. With this vision, Nabil Bank is partnering with Daraz for Digital payment gateway so as to introduce a new spectrum for Daraz customers and sellers where they have the assurance of payment which gives them the confidence to add products and also help increase transaction volume for the bank.
