In Conversation with Tenzing Samdup, Managing Partner at ACT360, a Digital Marketing Agency



ACT360 is a digital marketing agency based in Hattisar, Kathmandu.

The “ACT” in ACT360 refers to taking actions, as opposed to being reactive, and 360 signifies the full range of services provided by the company.

Established in December 2015 this young agency company offers a variety of services to its clients ranging from branding strategies to social media management, digital advertising to product photography as well as website design. These services include but are not limited to:

Web: Creating an online presence to complement existing business with an up-to-date website designed with the latest trends in mind.

Social Media: Setting up your business on various social media channels and keeping customers engaged with regular updates.

Digital Advertising: Using online platforms like Facebook and Google to get traffic to the website and increase sales while still being cost-effective.

Branding and Design: Creating a brand personality.

After being drawn in by the services provided by this startup, the team at TechLekh interviewed Tenzing Samdup, one of the Managing Partners at ACT360.

How did the company begin?

We (Amod, Cheteze, and Tenzing) first got the idea to open a company when we met during our MBA program. We felt that starting something of our own would let us leave a mark. After a few years of working for others, we finally took the plunge and registered ACT360 in December 2015.

As for the work we do, we decided that ACT360’s focus would be Digital Marketing. We felt that we could do much more than what others were doing in this field. Digital is also the future, and we wanted Nepali companies to be ready as well.

What was the biggest milestone for the company?

Our biggest milestone was completing one year which we just did on Dec. 13 (Yay!) without being cash negative. We’re now looking to meet our next set of challenges head on this 2017.

What are the challenges in this line of work?

The biggest problems working in a relatively new industry is that there is a lack of clarity when it comes to government policies and regulations. Pricing can also be a bit tricky since it is harder to estimate the cost that goes into providing services.

What are your future plans?

ACT360’s core purpose is “To do awesome things.”

Based on that ideology we’ve been working on some innovative (i.e. awesome) products that could disrupt the market. We hope to reveal these products by the end of next year and give Nepali businesses some exciting tools to work with.

We’re also looking to expand our team (come work with us!) and truly become an open, creative workspace with a culture of learning and fun.

What advice would you give to new entrepreneurs?

The best advice we can give is there is never a right time to start a business. There will always be something happening, and you will always feel compelled to delay your project.

And the more you delay things, the less likely you are to end up starting your business.
