Sony is a recognizable brand worldwide which has dipped its hands in diverse areas of business like game consoles, camera, and entertainment. It used to make laptops like VAIO too. And it is one of the major players in the smartphone industry, sort of.
Sony has been making smartphones since the beginning of the smartphone revolution. But they have been reluctant to adopt new design philosophies that arise in this constantly evolving smartphone market. It instead chose to focus on its own omnibalance design and refused to bring anything new to the table. So, the smartphone business of Sony has been faltering. But they have finally updated their design principles and made phones like the Xperia XZ3, one of the best smartphones you can buy on the market right now.
Nepa Hima Trade Link is the authorized distributor of Sony smartphones in Nepal. And they have brought some compelling Sony smartphones into Nepal over the years. They continue to bring newer smartphones into Nepal. And we have compiled a list of all the available Sony phones in Nepal right now to help you decide which Sony phone is best suited for you. We also have compiled a list of all the service centers for Sony phones so that you won’t have to live with broken phones anymore.

Typical with Sony’s phones, the camera will normally give you decent shots in most lighting conditions while occasionally producing amazing results in good lighting conditions. The 1080p inch screen is a vibrant LCD panel. Snapdragon 630 is a capable processor in this price category. The software that Sony uses is not bloated and represents nearly stock android. Overall, you’d like using this phone.

Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra
The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra comes in a slightly bigger dimension, with a 6-inch screen. It also has a 1080p screen which is run by a Snapdragon 630 Processor and 4GB of RAM. The storage on this device comes in at two variant, either 32 GB or 64 GB. The camera setup is a 23 Megapixel in the back and a dual camera set up on the front with a 16 Megapixel sensor and 8 Megapixel sensor. The battery on this device is a 3580 mAh.
Basically, the XA2 Ultra is a beefed up version of the XA2. And most of the times that’s what customers want. A larger display gives you a much better multimedia experience. But mind you, as this device has a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, it really feels bulky.

Sony Xperia L2
Sony Xperia L series is the home to slightly less powerful device than the XA or X series from Sony. Xperia L2 has a 5.5-inch screen with a 720p resolution. It is run by a MediaTek MT6737T and 3GB of RAM. The internal storage on this device is 32 GB. Camera setup is also fairly straightforward with 13 Megapixel Sensor on the back and 8 Megapixel sensor on the front. The battery on this device is a 3300 mAh one.
So, the one way that this product may excel the XA2 is in the batter department because of the lower-res display. But in every other way, you can see that this is a less powerful product. But, if you want a unique stylish device that won’t cost you a fortune, the L2 might just do the job for you. Check the cameras and speakers before you buy it.

Sony Xperia XA
Sony Xperia XA is already 2 years old now. But it still looks good. The slim frame and edge to edge screen make this phone desirable even though the back panel is made up of plastic. The plastic is a high-quality one though. However, the only reason you’d want to buy this phone is the design and the cameras. The cameras on this thing are one of the best in the price range of 15K-20K.
But the performance is not the best on the market. It is Okay for a phone of this price, but don’t think you’ll get something special. If you are someone who doesn’t use many apps and is a frugal user of a smartphone, this will be a perfect phone for you. But if you are a power user, look elsewhere. The internal storage is small and you’ll be constantly reminded of that fact by the phone. Though the battery is minuscule, you can make it last a day but you’ll have to be careful about your use case. However. the worst part about this phone is the speaker which is abysmally quiet.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra
The Sony Xperia XA Ultra is the muscular, bulkier brother of Sony Xperia XA. It is also more powerful and better in some ways. The XA Ultra has a massive 6 inch 16:9 Full HD display. This makes the one-handed use of this phone a little difficult. And not only is it gigantic in size, it is slightly heavy too. So, get the feel of the phone in a physical store to know if you like it or not before buying the Ultra.
The Full HD resolution instead of the HD found on the XA is a welcome addition. But the processor on both the XA and the XA Ultra is the same and so is the internal storage. The RAM is slightly larger at 3GB but this alone doesn’t warrant the 11000 price difference between these two phones. The factors that are causing such a massive price difference are the cameras which are more powerful than that on the XA.

Sony Xperia X
Sony Xperia X is already 2 years old now, like the Xperia XA and the XA Ultra. While the XA and XA ultra-focused on the mid-range market when they launched, Xperia X was a more premium offering from Sony meant for the upper-midrange market.
It packs a Snapdragon 650 inside which was a very powerful mid-range chip 2 years ago but two years on it is not the best mid-range processor available around. It can handle apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube well enough but gaming will be a chore. The 23 MP shooter on the Xperia X may be a little better than offerings from other mid-range devices though. Also, 3 GB RAM is going out of favor for 4GB even in the mid-range segment. But, not all smartphones will have dual front-facing speakers.
Sony Xperia X Key Specifications
- Display: 5.00-inch 1080 x 1920 @ 441 ppi
- Chipset: Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650
- CPU: Hexa-core (4×1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 & 2×1.8 GHz Cortex-A72)

Sony Xperia L1
The Sony Xperia L1 was launched in March 2017 as an option for people who wanted something more affordable than the Xperia XA1. It ships with an entry-level MediaTek processor which is coupled with 2GB RAM. This means that the L1 is specially made for lighter workloads. Don’t think about playing games on this device.
The cameras on the Xperia L1 are serviceable. They click decent photos in good lighting condition but struggle in low-light which is true for phones in the premium range too. The battery life may be a little on the low side, and you may struggle to reach the full day of use with the device. And you’ll immediately run out of storage even if you click a single photo, so investing in an external SD card will be a great idea.

Sony Xperia XA1
Sony Xperia XA1 is an iterative update over the Xperia XA with some small design changes. The edges are much sharper than that of the Xperia XA making the phone look more intimidating. The bezels instead of shrinking seem to have increased in size. Aside from that there are few specs bump under the hood.
The Xperia XA1 bumps up the camera resolution to 23MP resulting in sharper images with less noise. It is one of the best camera experience in the price range. The processor is still a MediaTek processor that is not the most powerful chipset to grace a mid-range phone. It can handle basic tasks like Instagram, and Youtube like a champ but gaming won’t be an enjoyable experience. Thanks to the 3GB RAM and Sony’s RAM management tech, multitasking will be smoother than expected for the price. The internal storage also has been bumped up to 32GB which might just be adequate enough for the phone’s target audience to live without an external SD card. This phone still doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor though.

Sony Xperia XA1 Plus
Sony Xperia XA1 Plus was released in August 2017. The relationship between the XA1 and the XA1 plus is slightly nuanced. The Xperia XA1 plus is a beefier version of the Xperia XA1
Sony XA1 Plus has a 5.5 inch full HD screen. Inside, a MediaTek Helio P20 processor runs the show in conjunction with the 4GB RAM. The 4GB RAM means fluid multitasking performance. The mid-range helio processor means normally smooth performance with occasional stutters under intense workload such as gaming. As this is the same processor that is inside the XA1, the performance can be expected to be similar between the two. The primary camera on the back and the front selfie camera remains unchanged from the XA1 and our praise for the camera of the XA1 holds its ground here. With so many good things going on with this phone, the lack of a fingerprint sensor and the average battery life are real bummers.
Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra Key Specifications
- Display: 5.50-inch 1080 x 1920 @ 367 ppi
- Chipset: Mediatek MT6757 Helio P20

Sony Xperia XZ Premium
Have you ever heard of 4K display? What about a 4K tv? They are just getting mainstream. But what about a 4K phone? Yes, Sony went berserk to try something new on the XZ Premium and fitted it with a 4K screen with a whopping 807-pixel density. You barely can notice the difference between a full HD resolution and a qHD resolution on screens this size. 4K is an overkill. You probably won’t notice it or won’t have the content to take full advantage of this display. So, the bottom line is don’t buy this phone just for the display.
Rest of the specs inside this phone is typical flag-ship grade. A Qualcomm 835 chip is paired with 4GB RAM, which when combined with near stock android made this phone one of the fastest phone on the market when it was launched in June 2017. The 64GB storage is adequate for most people and Sony mostly does a good job in the camera department but the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8 perform better (it also comes with a better design and similar price). If you want something premium with Sony etched on its surface the XZ Premium is meant for you.
Sony Xperia XZ Premium Key Specifications
- Display: 5.46 inch 3840 x 2160 pixels, 16:9 ratio (~807 ppi density)

Sony Xperia XZ1
Let’s say Sony XZ1 is just the XZ premium with a Full HD display instead of a 4K one. They both share the exact same CPU and GPU. They have the same RAM and storage configuration. The OS they run is the same. The camera tech on them is the same. There are some aesthetic differences, with the XZ Premium looking more “premium” But for consumers, the most sensible thing would be to buy the XZ1 instead of the premium and save their hard-earned cash because they are getting nearly the same performance for 10K less.

Have Your Say
This is our list of Sony mobiles price in Nepal. They are not as extensive as the offerings from Xiaomi or Samsung, but a couple of phones are enough to conquer the market if you can make them good enough. Just ask Apple.
Out of the phones listed above, the Sony Xperia X is my favorite because it gives you a full HD screen at a significantly lower price than other Sony handsets on the list. And I can live with 3GB RAM today (probably). But I would have loved to see more options from Sony here. Hope this list will expand a bit more in the future.
Which was your favorite phone on the list? Do you think the “Ultra” models are an ideal size for you? How has your experience been with any one of these phones? How has your experience with Sony Xperia smartphones been in general? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts and suggestions in the comments section below.
