Insta360 One R Twin Edition is compact, lightweight, and unique. It has 4 parts neatly arranged into a single package; a processor module with touchscreen, a dual-lens module for 360 degree/4K Wide videos, and an 1190 mAh battery.

The One R 1-inch edition has a single big camera sensor. That’s the only difference, everything else remains the same.

The dual-lens module lets you instantly switch between 360 videos and a 4K wide-angle video. And, it’s waterproof up to 5m without any mod cases. The battery, screen, and lenses attach together and can be detached.

The touchscreen module can also be flipped180 degrees into a selfie mode. However, it’s a small 3.25-inch square-shaped touchscreen.

Camera Module

Insta360 One R Twin Edition has a 4K Wide Angle Mod which has an aperture of f/2.0, 16.4mm focal length. It can shoot photos in 12MP (4:3) and 8MP (16:9). The respective resolution of photos is 4000 x 3000 and 4000 x 2250.

Then it captures videos at 4k @24/25/30fps. It can also capture 200fps videos in full HD allowing for an 8X slow-mo footage. You can also capture videos at 3840×2160 (24/25/30/60fps), 2720×1530 (24/25/30/60/100fps), and 1920×1080 (24/25/30/60/120/200fps) resolutions.

Then the Dual-lens 360 mod is standard Insta360 with its two f/2.8, 7.2mm lenses that capture at 5.7k in 20fps.

It captures photos at 6080 x 3040 (2:1) resolution. And, videos are captured at 5760×2880 (30fps, 24fps, 25fps), 3840×1920 (50fps, 30fps), and 3008×1504 (100fps). Then, the R 1-inch edition’s camera is similar to the 4K wide-angle mod but it has bigger sensor and has a better quality along with better stabilization.

Connection and Battery

It uses Bluetooth version 4 and also has Wi-Fi for connectivity. Then, it has a USB Type C as well.

It has an 1140 mAh battery which provides over 1 hour of usage and has a charging time of 65 mins.

Software and Other Features

Insta360 One R Twin Edition outputs videos using the H.265 codec and in ProRes422 lossless format. Both of the less can capture in RAW as well as JPG with video bitrate up to 100mbps.

It has a mounting bracket which makes it possible to use the device with an ‘invisible selfie stick’ which is also included in the package. For audio, you can record it wirelessly, use an external mic adaptor, or just use it’s built-in two microphones.

With the ONE R Twin Edition, you can edit footage on a phone without downloading it first. But, it is available with limited phones like; iPhone 8/8 Plus and newer / Samsung S9/S9+ or newer Samsung phones.

With the twin edition, the are new things included such as Color Plus, HDR video, and Night Shot. There’s also the Auto Frame, Auto Time Shift, FlashCut auto-editing, pose detection, and Deep Track features.
