The Apple AirPods Pro Now Available for Purchase in Nepal!

Just when you thought there was no other way Apple could rob you of your savings, Boom! Apple goes and releases the new AirPods Pro for $249. In most cases, I’d just avoid Apple products by saying they’re not entirely worth it. But this time it’s entirely different.

The new AirPods Pro have officially been launched in Nepal and weirdly, the price will vary depending on the store that you may choose. The Airpods Pro are available for purchase via 2 platforms as usual: Evo Store and Oliz Store. Here’s the price difference among the stores:

Ok, so now that the prices are out, let’s have a look at what the AirPods Pro are actually like.

Design

Let’s start with the most obvious design change. The AirPods Pro comes in a new design with a short neck instead of the previous long one and silicon tips for a more comfortable fit. Despite the ongoing design memes, I really think the design is quite clean and appealing.

The previous generations mostly struggled in staying intact within the ears. Most people including me passed on it because of this very reason. It’s good to know that Apple has well addressed our problems by implementing the silicone tips on the AirPods Pro.These silicone tips come included with 3 different sizes for your comfort. Speaking of comfort, when you first use the AirPods Pro, you are asked to take an “Ear Tip Fit Test”. It’s a software gimmick that makes sure that these AirPods fit perfectly to your ears. The AirPods are sweat and to some level water-resistant. They can withstand splashes and light rain is what I mean by water-resistant to some level.

Squeeze to Control

With the AirPods Pro, the way you interact with the earphones has changed as well. Instead of touch sensors to control the AirPods, Apple has implemented a new “force sensor” on the smaller stems that apparently lets you squeeze it. The force sensor responds to your commands on the basis of inputs that you feed it through squeezing. No physical buttons are involved, instead, you just squeeze the small stems.Honestly, it’s not as easy to control things as before and I personally prefer the touch over squeeze. Anyway, just learn these combinations in case.

• Quick Squeeze: play/pause/answer calls
• Double Squeeze: skip to next track
• Triple Squeeze: go back to the previous track
• Squeeze and hold: Switch between Active Noise cancellation modes.

One thing that’s always disappointing about these AirPods or most Wireless Earphones is that they do not offer volume controls externally. It’s just that life would’ve been a lot easier if the volume levels could be controlled wirelessly.

Audio

Audio performance seems to be quite good on the AirPods Pro. The vocals are clean and the bass is pretty great as well. But considering the price point and other competitors, it not the best in class. Don’t get me wrong, the audio is consistently good but it’s just that there are rooms for improvement.

Nonetheless, the quality of sound on the AirPods Pro is better than that of the previous AirPods. Do you know the reason? Well, it just that with the AirPods Pro, Apple has pushed the “Active Noise Cancellation” to a whole new level.

Active Noise Cancellation

The entire design of the AirPods Pro is centered around the noise cancellation feature. There are 3 specific modes of active noise cancellation. The “Noise Cancellation” negates out all the exterior noise giving you a cleaner audio experience.

The active noise cancellation technology utilizes two microphones and apple’s advanced software algorithms to ensure that no external noise reaches your ears. The external one is responsible for analyzing outside sounds and trying to cancel them with anti-noise. While the Internal one listens for anything that gets through and negates them.

Apple has also included “The Transparency Mode” that is for those cases when you need to hear announcements or while you’re on the traffic. Basically, the transparent mode takes advantage of the vent system and passes certain Noise within the earphone.

They’ve also included an “On” mode but it practically isn’t all that different from when the noise cancellations are kept off.

H1 Chip and Internals

The chip used in the AirPods Pro is the same as the one included in the second-generation AirPods. The 10 core audio drivers help deliver optimal performance out of the AirPods. The H1 chip also powers Active Noise cancellation and Adaptive EQ alongside adaptive hands-free Siri requests.

The Adaptive EQ tunes low and mid-range frequencies of the music you are playing to the shape of your ears. I’m not sure how this works entirely, but Apple says that it offers a more rich and immersive listening experience.

On the battery front, AirPods Pro lasts up to 4.5 hours with continuous usage. This battery life can be bumped up slightly to 5 hours by disabling the Active Noise Cancellation. Using the charging case, Apple claims that you can get around 24 hours of battery life. What’s more exciting is the charging the AirPods Pro for just 5 minutes can give you around an hour of listening time.

AirPods Pro Availability and Price in Nepal

Well, that’s all about features. As I mentioned earlier, the AirPods Pro are already up for sale in two online platforms. Something that I forgot to mention was that both prices mentioned above are exclusive of 13% VAT. So, if you do go to buy them, carry a little extra. And one last thing, free laser engravings won’t be available in Nepal. Apple does those in the US markets but no, they won’t be doing that here.
