Xiaomi Mi Band 3 was a hit among the consumers and the critics alike. Xiaomi did what it does best with the Mi Band 3 – it gave the people good hardware at a ridiculous price. So, naturally, people are excited about the next iteration of the Mi Band 3 – the Mi Band 4.
What we know
Xiaomi Mi Band 4 hasn’t launched yet and the details about the products are very scarce at this point. So, this begs the question: Is the product really going to launch?
That’s a resounding yes because David Cui, Chief Financial Officer at Huami (a brand owned by Xiaomi) confirmed that they will in fact be releasing a fitness tracker in 2019. “It’s going to be in this year. It will be in 2019. But I’m not sure, it’s going to be in March and April. It is going to be in this year.”, Chui added.
New features
Xiaomi Mi Band 3 had plenty of alluring features for its price: OLED display, 50m water resistance, 20-day battery life. Chui said that Xiaomi will be adding some new features to the Mi Band 4 to entice customers to upgrade. But we aren’t hoping for ground-breaking apple watch like ECG here because of the price. However, a brighter display and a better heart rate sensor are something that may be coming to the Mi Band 4.
We have learned that Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC are coming to the band. How? The Xiaomi Mi Band 4 recently passed through Bluetooth certification. The regulatory filing shows two versions of the Mi Band 4: one with NFC support (XMSH08HM) and one without (XMSH07HM). Both models will support Bluetooth 5.0; Xiaomi Mi Band 3 only supported Bluetooth 4.2.
Hopeful for more leaks
Aside from these small details, not much is known about Band 4. We don’t know its dimensions or the materials it will be build from. We don’t know whether it will have sleep tracking features or what its price will be. We are completely in the dark. But now that Xiaomi has said they are making a new one, I am sure some leaks will follow.
Will the Mi Band 4 come to Nepal?
We talked to Xiaomi about this a long time back and they had told that they will consider bringing it to Nepal. That’s great news for Nepali consumers because Xiaomi Mi Band 3 wasn’t officially available in Nepal actually. All the units that made their way into Nepal were brought through the grey market. This time we hope that Xiaomi will officially launch the Mi Band 4 in Nepal and eliminate the need of the grey market.
