Annapurna Post, one of the most read newspapers of Nepal, has released its own mobile news app. The app is aptly named Annapurna Post and you can find it on both Play Store on Android and App store on iOS. Here, you can read all the raging headlines of the world and of Nepal.
The app is pretty simple to use but a bit cluttered. The interface is exactly the same on both the iOS and Android. When you first install the app, the app tells you where you can find the main menu buttons for things like the main news of the day, trending stories, your bookmarked stories and all. After that, you are prompted to fill in your interests. There are around 10 options like “sampadakiya” and “Bidesh”. The options appear in Devanagari font. Much of the news section is in Devanagari font. If you want to read a news in English, you have to choose the Annapurna Express at the top of the app.
You can also listen to Annapurna radio from the app or look at your horoscope for today. These options are hidden beneath the hamburger menu at the top left corner. I didn’t experience any hiccups while using the app. The news appears almost instantaneously when you click on them and there are no ad popping up anywhere.
The reading interface is clean and free from any distractions. You can even send Annapurna Post your thoughts and suggestions regarding particular news by clicking on the message icon at the top of a news article. That is a very well thought out and praiseworthy feature.
If you are someone who likes to keep abreast of the recent happenings in the country and the world while on the go, Annapurna Post is a great app. There is an option to save an article offline to read it later by clicking the bookmark button on the top right corner of the news article if you don’t want to waste your mobile phone data.
The only gripe I have is that the extensive feature set available to readers who prefer the Nepali language isn’t available to readers who prefer English. We hope Annapurna Post fixes this issue in the future update.
