Apple launched the Mac mini M6 in Nepal on October 13, after announcing it globally on August 25, 2026. The tiny desktop was announced alongside the Mac mini M5 Pro, with both models hitting international stores on September 22.

Apple has jumped straight from the standard M4 to the M6, skipping a regular M5 model altogether. The M5 Pro, meanwhile, sits higher in Apple’s lineup and targets heavier workloads, making the M4 a more sensible yardstick for judging this new generation.
The M4 was already punching above its weight, which means the M6 has quite a bit to live up to. So, can it deliver another chhota packet, bada dhamaka? Before we find out, let’s look at its price in Nepal.
What is the Price of Apple Mac mini M4 in Nepal?
The Apple Mac mini M6 price in Nepal starts at Rs. 174,999 for the 16/256GB variant. The 16/512GB and 24/512GB configurations cost Rs. 214,999 and Rs. 259,899, respectively.
The new Mac mini M6 has launched in Nepal through authorised Apple retailers, although some stores still list it as coming soon. You can contact the store directly to confirm availability before making a purchase.
At these prices, the M6 is a noticeable step up in cost from its predecessor. But the M4 isn’t suddenly yesterday’s potato just because Apple has a new chip to sell. For buyers who don’t need the latest hardware, the older model could still be a sensible way to save money.
Therefore, the M6 needs to make that extra expense count. And the best place to start looking is beneath that familiar little shell.
Apple Mac mini M4 Overview
The Mac mini M6 retains the same compact silver aluminium design as the M4, measuring 5 × 5 × 2 inches and weighing 670g. But the M4 had already nailed the tiny-desktop look, so a redesign wasn’t exactly necessary.
That said, the power button is still tucked underneath the back-left corner. This can be pretty annoying as you have to tilt the little box around with all its cables attached.
There’s also no SD card slot, so you will need a card reader or hub to transfer files directly from their memory cards. Not deal-breakers, certainly, but little inconveniences that could have been avoided.

Moving on to the ports, the front houses two USB-C ports supporting USB 3 speeds of up to 10Gb/s, alongside a 3.5mm headphone jack. Around the back, you get three Thunderbolt 4 ports supporting speeds of up to 40Gb/s, HDMI 2.1, and Ethernet, alongside the power connector.
The port layout is unchanged from the M4, except for the Ethernet. It now supports 2.5Gb speeds by default, up from Gigabit Ethernet. There’s also an option to configure it with 10Gb Ethernet, although that’s an extra upgrade rather than something you get out of the box.
Wireless connectivity gets an upgrade as well. The M6 uses Apple’s N1 wireless chip, bringing Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 to the standard Mac mini, up from Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 on the M4. These are the same wireless standards found on the M5 Pro.
As for external displays, the M6 supports up to three simultaneously, just like the M4. The exact resolutions and refresh rates you can run depend on how you configure your displays, but there’s no increase in the maximum display count this time around.

Apple has replaced the M4’s 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU with 12-core versions on the M6. Its CPU comprises two super cores, four performance cores, and six efficiency cores, compared with the M4’s four performance cores and six efficiency cores.
Apple claims up to 40% faster CPU performance and 2× faster graphics than the M4. The 12-core GPU adds hardware-accelerated ray tracing and Neural Accelerators in every core, but don’t mistake the upgrade for a dedicated gaming PC.
The M6 pairs a dual 16-core Neural Engine with Neural Accelerators in every GPU core. Apple claims up to 2× faster Neural Engine performance and 4× faster AI performance than the M4, though actual gains depend on the workload.

All that extra processing power is useful, but there’s another part of the Mac mini M6 worth paying attention to before you reach for your wallet: memory and storage.
The M6 starts with the same 16GB of unified memory and 256GB SSD as the M4, with upgrades up to 32GB RAM and 2TB storage. Since the memory is built in, choose wisely; you can’t add more later.
Apple claims up to 2× faster SSD performance, but there’s a trade-off: the M4’s SSD could be replaced, while the M6’s is soldered to the logic board. An external SSD is an option, but it adds clutter and makes the M6 a step backwards in upgrade flexibility.
The Mac mini M6 ships with macOS 27 Golden Gate, bringing Siri AI, Visual Intelligence, and other system and app improvements. But macOS 27 isn’t exclusive to the M6.
Older Apple-silicon Macs, from the M1 to the M5, also support it, so you don’t need a new Mac to get many of these software upgrades.

So, does the Mac mini M6 deliver another chhota packet, bada dhamaka? Well, partly. It packs a noticeable performance boost over the M4, but Apple has also made that little box more expensive.
At roughly lesser price, the M4 remains a tempting buy for everyday users. You miss out on the M6’s faster performance and newer connectivity, but browsing, writing, and office work won’t break a sweat on the older chip. Better yet, its replaceable SSD gives it an upgrade advantage the M6 lacks.
On the other hand, the standard M6 isn’t quite an AI workstation either. With a 32GB memory cap and 170GB/s bandwidth, it falls short of the M5 Pro’s 64GB and 307GB/s, making the Pro better suited to demanding AI workloads. Of course, that means stepping into a more expensive category.
In the end, the M6 does deliver a proper chhota packet, bada dhamaka, but only for the right buyer. If you need a compact desktop for creative work, multitasking, and experimenting with AI, it packs a serious punch. If you mainly need a computer for everyday tasks, that little packet might not be the bargain you’re looking for.
