Motorola recently launched a fabulous budget phone, the Moto G35. Now the company is preparing to expand its lineup in Nepal once again, this time with a new mid-range, the Motorola Moto G96.

The Moto G96 5G serves as the upgrade of the Moto G85 5G, which arrived in Nepal over six months ago. With this upgrade, Motorola brings several meaningful improvements, including a more powerful chipset and a larger 5500mAh battery, making it a promising option in the mid-range category.
What is the price of the Motorola Moto G96 in Nepal?
The Motorola Moto G96 price in Nepal is expected to be Rs. 29,999 for the 8/128GB variant and Rs. 34,999 for the 8/256GB variant.
The G96 could launch in Nepal within a few weeks, as Motorola had teased its launch a week ago in Nepal.
The Moto G96 brings healthy upgrades compared to the G85. But are they enough to stand out in a competitive Nepali market? Let’s take a look.
Motorola Moto G96 Overview
The Moto G96 continues Motorola’s design tradition with a vegan leather back, helping it stand out in a market crowded with plastic-bodied phones. Its camera module also follows Motorola’s familiar styling, similar to what we’ve seen on devices like the Moto G35.
The phone has an edgeless edge design that gives it a refined look in a 7.9mm thin and 179g lightweight body. The water resistance has been upgraded to IP68, but the front glass protection is still the same, the Gorilla Glass 5.

For those who love stylish color options, the Moto G96 comes in a range of PANTONE-certified finishes, including Greener Pastures, Cattleya Orchid, Dresden Blue, and Ashleigh Blue.
The Moto G96 retains a similar display setup to the Moto G85, featuring a 6.67-inch P-OLED panel with FHD+ resolution and 1600 nits peak brightness. The key upgrade comes in the refresh rate—while the G85 offered 120Hz, the G96 steps it up to a smoother 144Hz.
The 10-bit display features DCI-P3 along with Water Touch 2.0, but it misses out on HDR capability. On the positive note, the phone includes a Dolby Atmos® dual stereo speaker for an enhanced multimedia experience.

The Moto G96 receives a modest performance upgrade with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. In real-world use, its performance sits close to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, offering smooth day-to-day usage with better efficiency than its predecessor.
The phone comes in two configurations: 8GB RAM + 128/256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage.

On the camera side, the Moto G96 steps things up with a 50MP OIS-enabled main sensor alongside an 8MP ultrawide lens. Impressively, both rear cameras now support 4K 30fps video recording, a notable improvement over the Moto G85.
The front also gets a boost, its 32MP selfie camera can capture 4K/30fps videos as well, making it a strong option for vloggers and content creators.
The G96 sees a health upgrade interms of battery, it has gone up from 5000mAh to a 5500mAh battery. However, the fast charging speed remains the same at 30W.
Moving on, it runs on the latest Android 15 out of the box, but it is only set to receive 1 major Android update and 3 years of security updates.

Motorola Moto G96 Price in Nepal: Rs. 29,999 (8/256GB) / Rs. 34,999 (12/512GB)
The Moto G96 is a decent upgrade to the Moto G85. Its vegan leather finish and IP68 rating help it stand out in a crowded mid-range market, while the improved 144Hz P-OLED display and 4K-capable cameras add solid value.
That said, the chipset upgrade is the least exciting part of this refresh. While the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 offers smoother performance and better efficiency, it still falls short of what some competitors provide in this price segment.
Overall, the Moto G96 is a well-rounded mid-range phone, great for users who prioritize design, display, and camera quality, but power users may find the performance a bit underwhelming.
