Under Climate Change Disaster Resilience project, the Ministry of Agriculture Development distributed mobile phones to 63 groups that include farmers group, agriculture cooperatives, and animals’ husbandry farmers group. The mobile phones were distributed on a function held at District Agriculture Development Office on Wednesday in Sunsari district.
The organizer aims to enable the farmer to access useful climate information services such as product publicity, ways to increase productivity and voice response to various queries through the mobile phone.
According to the Director of the Agriculture Management Information System Project, Bishnu Prasad Ghimire, the availability of the mobile phone along with Sim cards is likely to help the farmers remain updated regarding the agriculture environment and climate change among others.
It has been estimated that around 2000 farmers will be benefited from the project.
