Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 Officially Launched in Nepal

When R15 V2 (Version 2.0) was launched in Nepal, it was one of the most talked bikes in the whole market. It was one of the first motorcycles in the 150cc segment to introduce a sporty look at relatively affordable price. In NADA Auto Show 2018 event, Yamaha unveiled the R15 V3 and believe me it was one of the most jam-packed stalls in the event. People loved what they saw and why wouldn’t they? R15 V3 was everything that they wanted in a bike a better performance, looks, and a premium feel.

The unveiling of Yamaha R15 V3 was done at NADA but the official launch was yet to be announced. Morang Auto Works, the authorized distributor of Yamaha motorcycle in Nepal, officially launched the most-awaited Yamaha YZF-R15 V3 recently in Nepal.

The distributor said that it has sold over 500 units of the bike within two months before the official launch. That’s outrageous, right? The youngsters have loved the bike so much that the company has set a new target to sell 800 units by the end of this year. The bike is priced at Rs. 4,19,000 and is available in the showroom near you. It is available in three different color variations Thunder Grey, Racing Blue, and MotoGP Blue.

Yamaha R15 V3

A single cylinder, liquid-cooled SOHC engine with 155.1cc displacement, power Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0. It is equipped with a 6-speed transmission with a wet-plate clutch. The engine is powerful enough to produce max power of 19.04 Bhp at 10000 rpm and max torque of 14.7 NM at 8500 rpm. As Yamaha’s history suggests, R15 V3.0 is expected to have a refined and durable engine. Furthermore, it comes with an 11 liters fuel tank, which provides a decent mileage of 40 – 45 kmpl.

Talking about the features, it includes all new digital instrument console, aluminum swingarm, dual LED light, hazard lights, modified Delta Box platform, and much more. In addition, Yamaha has slightly lowered the previous uncomfortable pillion seat. At least, the pillion riders can take joy at far more practical and comfortable seats. Disc brakes are equipped on both tires, although ABS is not included.

In comparison to the older one, R15 V3 misses out on USD forks and Pirelli tires. However, the older R15 lacked initial power delivery unable to go head-on against KTM Duke 200, Bajaj Pulsar NS and Apache RTR 200. So, the power delivery is pushed up to 19.04 BHP for fair competition.

Thoughts?

In mid 2017s, Yamaha released the teaser trailer of the R15 V3. The buzz started on the internet was something I have never seen for a 150cc motorcycle. It was what everyone was dying to see and ride. Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 seems to be a bit overpriced compared to its rivals( Suzuki Gixxer, Bajaj Pulsar NS). Being just above 155cc, theoretically, it should go against the bikes in 160cc segment category. However, it gives out more power than any motorcycles in that category. Props to Yamaha and technologically superior engines.

Yamaha YZF R15 V3 is without a doubt one handsome looking machine. I ride a Honda CBR 250R and I believe you will agree when I say CBR is one handsome looking machine. However, the road presence of Honda CBR 250R pales in comparison to Yamaha R15 V3. Even though the performance of the CBR is higher as it is a 250cc machine, when we compare purely on looks and design, Yamaha YZF R15 V3 looks far better and superior.

Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 can be considered a budget-friendly motorcycle. Riders not only get an optimum fuel economy but also a machine that packs a punch. Moreover, aerodynamically fit design lets the rider cruise at higher speeds. Best of them all, you look good while doing it!

At the end of the day, Yamaha R15 V3 improves on design, performance, and overall value for money. Although, the absence of ABS might just be the biggest disappointment of them all.
