A four-day training on “Empowering Women in Geospatial Information Technology (GIT)” is going to be conducted from 25th June. It is being organized by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development<\/a> (ICIMOD), in partnership with Robotics Association of Nepal<\/a> (RAN).<\/p>\n The training is a part of their SERVIR Hindu Kush Himalaya<\/a>\u00a0(HKH) initiative. It is meant to address the issue of very fewer people being involved in GIS system and finding employment in GIS related system. Especially since GIS Mapping in one of the leading innovative\u00a0technology.<\/p>\n The training course will provide the women involved in the training with theoretical as well as practical knowledge and experience. It will cover topics such as\u00a0Earth observation for societal benefits, GIT applications in HKH, concepts of remote sensing and GIS, gender perspectives in GIT, team building, importance of women in GIT, women in science, GIS operation and mapping using open source tools, python coding, and use of Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing environment to solve emerging environmental problems.<\/p>\n The program\u00a0aims to familiarize women with GIT and help them find their career in the field of GIT.
