Photo: Ram Sarraf<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>All oil tankers must now have a security locking system mandated by the <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/tag\/noc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nepal Oil Corporation<\/a> (NOC), reports <a href=\"https:\/\/kathmandupost.ekantipur.com\/news\/2018-03-15\/security-locking-systems-installed-on-oil-tankers.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>The Kathmandu Post<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With this move, the NOC aims to control theft and leakage in transit between Nepal and <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/tag\/india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">India<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>The Details:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>It has been over a year since the government had directed fuel transporters to <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/fuel-tankers-yet-install-high-tech-locking-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">install high tech security locking system in their vehicles<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A total of 140 tankers at <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/tag\/ioc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indian Oil Corporation<\/a>\u2019s (IOC) Siliguri depot were equipped with the <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/tag\/security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">security<\/a> system on Wednesday.<\/li>\n<li>NOC plans to install the security locking system on IOC\u2019s Gonda and Banthara depots in the next two weeks. It will also install the system in tankers leaving <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/tag\/raxaul\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Raxaul<\/a> depot next month.<\/li>\n<li>Within the next three months, the system will be\u00a0installed on all tankers used for importing <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/tag\/fuel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fuel<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>From then onwards, any tanker without the system will have its owner\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/techlekh.com\/tag\/license\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">license<\/a> scrapped.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Why it matters:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>These systems are designed to meet all the safety measure that is being implemented by IOC in India.<\/li>\n<li>The master keys for the system will be held by NOC and IOC depots so that it can only be locked and unlocked at the two depots.<\/li>\n<li>Each system costs Rs. 25,000.
