MSI Laptops with RTX Graphics Cards Now Available in Nepal

MSI is a giant name in the gaming laptop industry. They make some of the most powerful gaming laptops in the world. And it looks like they want to prove that in Nepal. MSI has officially brought 3 new laptops with the new NVIDIA RTX Graphics card into Nepal. They even showcased these laptops in CAN.

These are very expensive laptops, all of them are above the 2 lakhs price range. So these are still not that accessible to average Nepalis.

MSI GL63 8SE

I know; MSI needs to fix their naming scheme. But except for a handful of manufacturers like Apple and Microsoft, laptop makers haven’t been known for a legible naming system. Anyway, we are more concerned with what this laptop can do rather than what it’s called.

MSI GL63 8SE is a strong performer, thanks to the 8th Gen coffee lake H series processor which is combined with 6GB of DDR6 GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. This is one of the most powerful graphics cards in the world right now. You can play any new AAA titles with ease in high settings. The 16GB of RAM means that this laptop is well-suited for content creators too. Sadly, it looks like this laptop won’t feature a 120Hz display. That is a bummer.

MSI GE63 8SE Key Specifications

  • Display: 15.6″ FHD (1920×1080)
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4
  • CPU: 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H Processor (2.2GHz to 4.1GHz)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060, 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • Hard drive: 256GB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD
  • Battery: 51 Whr Li-ion battery (6-cell)

MSI GE63 Raider RGB 8SF

This name of this gaming laptop itself hints to the fact that this laptop supports RGB lighting. But I guess you people won’t pay Rs. 2,92,000 for just that feature. Or will you? Inside, the same 8th gen processor that was inside the GL63 8SE powers this laptop. But it is now paired with the NVIDIA RTX 2070 GPU which is more powerful than 2060 by a significant margin.

Other features of this laptop include a massive 16GB RAM and a 1TB HDD+512GB NVME SSD combination. I applaud MSI for including this massive SSD in their laptop which is necessary for faster boot time. Another cool feature of this laptop is the 144Hz display. This is (as most gamers say) a more important feature than a Graphics upgrade. So keep an eye on these higher refresh rate screens.

MSI GS65 Stealth 8RE Thin

The stealth in the name of this laptop is probably a foreshadowing to its thinness. But it has already got a ‘Thin’ on its name already so I don’t know what the hell MSI is trying to say. But who cares. The Stealth 8RE thin has the same processor as the other RTX laptops in this list, i.e. 8th Gen i7 8750H. That’s fine because that is one of the most powerful chipsets that Intel makes for a laptop.

The graphics card is the same 8GB DDR6 RTX 2070 found on the 8SF. So a question may arise in your mind: What causes the price of this laptop to be higher than the 8SF. One reason is that this laptop is sleek and thin. It takes more money to engineer that kind of body. The other reasons are Thunderbolt 3 support, 1TB NVME SSD, and the larger battery.

  • Display: 15.6″ FHD (1920×1080), 144Hz, 94% NTSC
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4
  • CPU: 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H Processor (2.2GHz to 4.1GHz)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070, 8 GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • Hard drive: 1TB NVMe SSD
  • Battery: 82 Whr Li-ion battery (4-cell)

MSI GS65 Stealth 8RE Thin Price in Nepal: Rs. 3,59,000

So these were the new RTX laptops from MSI to come to Nepal. While gamers may be drooling over these laptops, it is important to note that the full potential of the RTX cards hasn’t yet been exploited by game-makers. There are only a few games like Battlefield V and the Shadow of the tomb raider that support this ray-tracing technology.

Previous Gen cards from NVIDIA – the 10 series – is already capable of playing the latest games comfortably. So right now, at this stage, it is not wise to spend more money on these RTX cards. If you don’t believe us, hear what Dave Lee (Dave2D) has to say.
