Maruti Suzuki S-Presso: Living Up to The Hype?

Honestly, no.

With every hype surrounding its launch, S-Presso only delivers on the pricing. Right of the bat, everything else looks outdated. Obviously, Suzuki S-Presso takes inspiration from other cars. Like, the front look of the Mahindra Scorpio or Dashboard of Mini Cooper.

But that could’ve been a good thing if Suzuki S-Presso did something more than just copy. There’s no “WOW” factor in this. Every element looks simple and boring.

According to the sources, Suzuki invested Rs. 640 Crore for the development of S-Presso. Let that sink in! With Rs. 640 Crore in investment & research, Maruti Suzuki landed on that design. Seriously?

Just google the “Suzuki S-Presso Concept” model. How on earth did it go from that to this? How??

Honestly, S-Presso competes directly against the Renault Kwid Facelift 2019. As it happens, Renault Kwid Facelift 2019 has launched in India! Interestingly, both Suzuki S-Presso and Renault Kwid 2019 has been launched at a similar price point.

Yet, both cars look like miles apart in the styling and features department. Furthermore, judging by the online reactions, people are more inclined to buy Renault Kwid 2019 over Suzuki S-Presso. Quite frankly, I would agree!

It’s a definite surprise that Maruti Suzuki S-Presso made its way into Nepal in such a short span. That would mean that Renault Kwid Facelift 2019 is next!

We did attend the official launch event. Seeing the car in person, we had… mix feeling about it. So, we are coming up with the Suzuki S-Presso First Look Review article, addressing every part of the SUV, very soon!
